City Farmers' Market
City Farmers' Market
THIS AUTHENTIC INNER-CITY FARMERS’ MARKET ON GORE STREET OFFERS A BOUNTY OF LOCAL SEASONAL PRODUCE FROM THE AUCKLAND REGION – EVERY WEEKEND, RAIN OR SHINE.
Every Saturday morning, the City Farmers’ Market at Britomart brings a little bit of the country to the heart of Auckland city.
You’ll find fresh, seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs, eggs and meat, olives and olive oils, artisan breads and hand-made pastries, cheeses and condiments and much more. All this top-quality produce is available directly from the local growers, farmers and makers who produced it.
You can stroll around with a fresh coffee, sit and soak up the market atmosphere or have an impromptu picnic lunch in Takutai Square. There’s regular live music and family entertainment and plenty of space for kids to run around.
Supporting locally grown food
An authentic farmers’ market is a food market where local growers, farmers and artisan food producers sell their wares directly to consumers. Vendors may only sell what they grow, farm, pickle, preserve, bake, smoke or catch themselves within a defined local area.
The City Farmers’ Market was founded in 2006 by a not-for-profit group, inspired by the wonderful local markets that are so much a part of life in Europe.
Today the City Farmers’ Market is proudly affiliated to Farmers’ Markets New Zealand, the governing body supporting authentic farmers’ markets throughout the country.
