All puns aside, the annual Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt is set to be a hit this Easter

Easter egg hunts are an autumnal highlight; they give kids the chance to discover their inner hunter-gatherer while searching for tasty treats. The Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt isn’t just for the kids though, the whole family can enjoy tracking down beautifully decorated eggs created to raise money for the Starship Foundation.

Launched last year, the Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt features 100 giant eggs created by a range of New Zealand’s best visual artists. They are hidden in various locations around Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch – 12 of them will be squirrelled away throughout the Britomart.

WORLD and Zambesi will be displaying their own eggy creations in-store, there will also be eggs displayed in the Britomart Project Space and in the Britomart carpark.

The event will run from March 12 to April 7; egg hunt participants can win prizes through a Whittaker’s Big Egg Hunt app, and also go in the draw to win a grand prize (this is yet to be announced). At the end of the egg hunt the eggs will be auctioned on TradeMe and at a gala dinner on March 31. So head down to Britomart and let the hunt begin!
