It’s not just outdoor gear, it’s a symbol of adventure.  And the Macpac guys aren’t just salespeople, they’re outdoor experts who walk the adventure talk.

Macpac is the fast-expanding Kiwi outdoor adventure brand known for its top-quality outdoor gear for backpacking, tramping and camping. And its Britomart concept store on Customs Street East is the largest Macpac outlet in New Zealand.

Themselves serious outdoor enthusiasts, the Macpac Britomart team offer the kind of expert service and intimate product knowledge you can only give if you live for adventure yourself.

As well as a wide range of packs, Macpac stocks hiking boots, tents, sleeping bags, camping and travel accessories and outdoor clothing designed to make you at home in the planet’s wildest places.

From hiking packs to camping gear

Macpac began in Christchurch with a backpack – New Zealand’s first internal-frame climbing pack – designed by founder Bruce McIntyre for his mountaineering mates in 1975. Today it’s one of the world’s most trusted outdoor brands, known for its innovative designs, revolutionary fabrics and relentless focus on performance.

In 2008 Macpac joined forces with New Zealand’s other iconic outdoor brand, Fairydown, allowing customers to get the best of both brands in one place.

If you love the great outdoors and rate the importance of quality gear, trek in and see the Macpac team – you’ll find them on the ground floor of Old Sofrana House.
