Tiffany & Co.
Directions Call

Against a backdrop of iconic Tiffany blue, Tiffany & Co.’s first flagship store for New Zealand sets a new standard for luxury, with both contemporary and traditional jewellery and gift lines on offer.

Brilliance Awaits – that’s what the signs promised, as the entire ground floor of Britomart’s Australis House building began a makeover like no other, in preparation for the arrival of Tiffany & Co.’s first New Zealand flagship store. The doors opened in October 2016, redefining the meaning of luxury for the city of Auckland.

The legacy of Tiffany began in 1830s New York, when 25 year old Charles Lewis Tiffany, along with business partner John B Young, opened a “stationery and fancy goods store” with a $1,000 advance from his father. They called it Tiffany & Co. – the company would become a global icon, influencing style and paving futures with its famous brilliant-cut diamond engagement rings , intricately crafted silverware and more.

Interestingly, Tiffany & Co. were an early proponant of ethical practice in their sourcing of materials; Chairman and CEO Michael J. Kowalski has said, “Our position as a leader in the luxury jewellery market gives us the opportunity and the responsibility to conduct our business in a manner that is consistent with our core beliefs—protection of the environment, respect for human rights and support for the communities in which we do business.”

The Britomart store houses the Tiffany® Setting, the ultimate engagement ring which has enjoyed universal popularity since its 1886 introduction. The setting is arrayed with other elegant engagement rings and wedding bands handcrafted by Tiffany artisans. Other collections available include fancy coloured diamonds such as Tiffany Yellow Diamonds in contemporary settings. The store also showcases the bejewelled masterpieces of Jean Schlumberger, sculptural jewellery of Elsa Peretti and bold creations of Paloma Picasso—Tiffany’s exclusive designers, who are among the most honoured in the world of fashion and jewellery.

Each sparkling creation is wrapped in the Tiffany Blue Box, emblematic of beauty and excellence throughout the world since it was first used in 1878.

There really is nothing like Tiffany & Co., and we’ve longed to get a glimpse of the magic. With their arrival in Britomart we can safely say that the longing is gone, but the magic is here to stay.
