Britomart Artworks Feature in Art Week Guided Walks
Art Week returns to Auckland from 26 October to 4 November 2012, and a number of Britomart artworks feature in a special guided walks as part of a citywide festival of art.
The three art walks featuring Britomart works include the Waterfront & Britomart Walk, the Art of Fashion Walk and the Street Art Walk.
Bookings are required for art walks, and can be made online on the Big Little City website.
Waterfront & Britomart Walk
Tuesday 30 October, 5pm-7pm
Saturday 3 November, 1pm-3pm
A new take on one of the city’s most established sculpture walks, this journey begins at Britomart and features works including Pou Tū Te Rangi by Chris Bailey, SCOUT by Tim Gruchy and Pipis and Pop Jets by Chaz Doherty.
The Art of Fashion Walk
Saturday 3 November, 1pm-3pm
The Art of Fashion Walk includes stops at some of the city’s most prestigious fashion houses, to see their windows transformed with a curated selection of New Zealand art inspired by the fashion collections in-store. Participating fashion houses at Britomart include Zambesi, Kate Sylvester and WORLD. The walk also makes a stop at Britomart fashion store Laundromat Boutique, whose walls showcase works by some of the designers featured on its racks.
Street Art Walk
Saturday 27 October, 1pm-3pm
Friday 2 November, 5pm-7pm
The Street Art Walk will open your eyes to some of the not-so-obvious art and murals in the central city’s public spaces and features Britomart art including Birds of a Feather by stencil artist Flox and the current installation by Jae Hoon Lee at Britomart Project Space.
