DJ Sir-Vere’s Air Jordan Exhibition This Weekend

What's On
DJ Sir-Vere’s Air Jordan Exhibition This Weekend
Michael Jordan changed the sport of basketball and will be remembered as the greatest player ever to have played the game. Not only that, though – he also changed the way athletes work with brands and was the first true athletic superstar.
Jordan's strong fashion views led to a new look for basketball shoes – so much so, the NBA banned his first Air Jordan 1 shoe from the court. Alongside an emerging hip-hop culture, Jordan's fame and his innovative footwear saw athletic shoes being adopted as fashion items and even status symbols.
Michael Jordan and his sneakers impacted on many who grew up in that era – and every era since. Phil Bell, AKA DJ Sir-Vere, is best known as one of New Zealand music's best DJs. Like many others, however, his life has been shaped by where and when he can get his hands on that special pair of Jordans.
Phil has travelled the globe collecting one rare pair of Jordans after another, and has over time amassed a huge and hugely impressive collection of Jordans, Jordan memorabilia and more.
The collection will be on display this weekend only, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June, in the new store space in the Atrium where Nike Action Sports will be.
Entitled ‘48 Minute Set’, the exhibition is an ode to DJ Sir-Vere's life with his Jordans.
