Karen Walker Coming to Britomart in Late 2012

Leading Kiwi fashion label Karen Walker has been confirmed as the newest addition to the rapidly expanding designer fashion offering at Britomart. Karen Walker is expected to relocate its flagship O’Connell Street store to Britomart towards the end of 2012.

Work will begin in July on the construction of a new retail development in the centre of the precinct, adjacent to the Showcase shopping area. Alongside Karen Walker, the development will be home to several other high-end fashion and specialty stores as well as new places to eat and drink.

The new development will be located on Te Ara Tāhuhu Walking Street, on the site currently occupied by Trelise Cooper Boardroom and Kathryn Wilson. Both Trelise Cooper Boardroom and Kathryn Wilson will remain open for business elsewhere in the precinct.

The new Karen Walker store will carry full Karen Walker collections and have a strong focus on Karen Walker jewellery and eyewear.

Launched in 1988, Karen Walker is New Zealand’s most internationally renowned fashion house. Karen Walker shows every season at New York Fashion Week and Karen Walker product is sold in over 650 stores around the world.

In opening a flagship store at Britomart, Karen Walker joins fellow New Zealand designer fashion houses Zambesi, WORLD and Kate Sylvester, all of whom moved into Tyler Street earlier this year.

Elsewhere in the precinct, leading hair salon Ryder is due to open on Customs Street East in late June.
