May is Appeal Month for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, and on 20 May the Westpac Rescue Helicopter will be landing in Takutai Square. It’s a great chance to meet the crew and get a first-hand look at the chopper in action.

The crew will be manning the sausage sizzle and a flight simulator and a ride for the kids will be in action. Westpac staff will be shaking collection buckets, so get down there and dig deep for a good cause!

Every year rescue choppers undertake around 5000 search and rescue and air ambulance missions. Each mission costs thousands of dollars, for emergencies ranging from boating and car accidents and near drownings to heart attacks and emergency births.

Britomart business Westpac is the major sponsor of the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch Westpac Rescue Helicopters, as well as the Waikato Air Ambulance. All funds raised throughout the appeal go to the local rescue helicopter trust.
