'Windows to Another World': Volunteer Service Abroad Exhibition
‘Windows to Another World’ is a remarkable exhibition exploring the diverse cultures of the Pacific, Africa and Asia through 50 amateur photographs collected by Volunteer Service Abroad. Dating from the mid-60s to the present day, the images highlight the unique experiences of volunteering.
Taken mostly by volunteers and VSA staff themselves, they depict life in countries ranging from Nepal and Thailand to Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea. Each image is accompanied by a brief text explanation that provides a fascinating glimpse into life as a volunteer.
The exhibition celebrates the 50-year anniversary of VSA, the independent non-religious, non-political Kiwi charity. The organisation matches the skills and experience of volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds with demand in developing countries.
The photos will be on display in The Australis Room at Britomart from Monday 18 June to Sunday 24 June.
