Andrew Hanson, Head Chef at Amano

Knife hand: left or right? Right.

Where did you train? In Palmerston North.

If it were your last weekend on earth, what city would you eat in? That’s a tough one… either Bologna or San Francisco.

Did you eat your veges as a kid? Yes!

Tell us a food/dish you’d be happy to eat every day? Anything that’s fresh and packed full of flavour, from a tasty pasta to an Asian salad.

What’s the best part of your job? Hands down it’s the people that I work with. We have an amazing team at Amano!

What’s a good road trip song? One by Metallica.

What was the first thing you can remember mastering in the kitchen? I don’t feel I’ve mastered anything yet. There is always room for improvement and so much left to learn.

Savour one of Andrew’s dishes at Relish & Roam: A Britomart Progressive Dinner. On Thursday 17 August, this event will showcase some of Britomart’s best culinary offerings as you dine at Oaken, Ostro, Amano and Miann. Tickets are almost sold out for this event – don’t miss out and book today.
