Selling locally-farmed pork, beef, lamb and more, start your weekend with a visit to The Butcher at Britomart.

Every Saturday morning from 8am-12.30pm (so long as they don’t sell out), The Butcher is now selling fresh, local meats at the City Farmers’ Market at Britomart.

Not your run-of-the-mill sausage suppliers, these guys are guided by a strong belief in sustainability, seasonability and using locally sourced produce. To borrow a term from Kath & Kim, it’s fair to say that the team behind these aprons aren’t just butchers, but ‘Purveyors of Fine Meats’.

Buying mainly from family-run farms, The Butcher tries to use each animal in its entirety and practices traditional artisan techniques to hand-carve the produce. Part of the HIPGROUP restaurant group, the Waimauku-based butchery also supplies a number of celebrated Auckland eateries including Britomart’s own Ortolana and The Store. Delivering the same high-qualty produce to the market as it does its restaurants, you can be sure that the meats are going to be nothing short of exceptional.

As well as an impressive selection of artisan produce, some weeks market goers will also find Marty, the head butcher, on site, happy to answer any questions they may have.

Selling a range of delicious and fresh meats like eye fillet steaks, pork cutlets, butterflied lamb legs and much more, The Butcher at the City Farmers’ Market at Britomart is well worth a visit. To borrow yet another line from Kath & Kim: ‘it’s nice, it’s different, it’s unusual.’
