Trendy toasted sandwiches, Japanese street food and lovingly picked fresh flowers – the City Farmers’ Market at Britomart brings a bounty of local produce right to the heart of Auckland city.

Wind, rain or shine – every Saturday from 8am-12.30pm you’ll see a slice of country life crop up at the City Farmers’ Market at Britomart. Welcome the weekend by picking up a selection of seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs, flowers, eggs and meat, olive oils, artisan breads and hand-made pastries, cheeses and condiments and more.

While there’s no shortage of all things healthy, wholesome or moreish, we’ve rounded up a few of our tried-and-true Farmers’ Market favourites below.

I Love Ginza Teppanyaki

From the streets of Osaka all the way to Britomart – get a taste of Japan’s infamous takoyaki. Watching these savoury morsels getting made right before your eyes is almost as much fun as eating them.

Bethany Flowers

If you’ve got some grovelling to do, flowers may or may not help. With the abundance of colours available, the blooms from Bethany Flowers never fail to brighten up our Saturday mornings.

Aotea Organic Coffee Co.

From the quintessential Kiwi flat white to a piccolo latte – the Aotea Organic Coffee Co. has you covered on all caffeine fronts whichever way you like it. Organic and free trade, we do love a feel-good coffee.

Toastie Bros

Add some melted cheese to mushrooms or chorizo and you might just have the best thing since sliced bread. On offer are toasted sandwiches with a twist – try the ‘bacon bro’ with bacon, gouda cheese, rocket, caramelised onion and mustard.

Clevedon Herbs and Produce

These ready-to-plant herbs are perfect for us wannabe green fingers. Simply pop these into your planter and you’ve got the herb garden of your dreams without the hassle.

With a coffee in hand, sit and soak up the market atmosphere or have an impromptu picnic lunch at Takutai Square. There’s also regular live music and plenty of space for the kids to run around (or for you to recover from your food coma).
