Kate Sylvester’s historic collab / Karen Walker’s crazy shades / A must-have jacket

A famed painter’s lost prints inspired Kate Sylvester’s new range

When Kate Sylvester came across a handful of textile designs by painter Frances Hodgkins hidden in Te Papa’s underground archives, she knew she’d found inspiration. In collaboration with Te Papa, four of those bold, graphic prints have been reworked and brought to life in Kate’s new Frances collection, like the Isabel Top ($259) pictured. The collection is available in-store at Britomart now.

Karen Walker’s eyewear collection goes retro-futuristic this season

One of Karen Walker‘s greatest strengths as a fashion designer is daring to go where others fear to tread. Her love of contradiction makes her unafraid to try out clashing combinations that shouldn’t work, but do – like these ski-styled Hallelujah frames in Crazy Tort ($349) from her new eyewear collection Euphoria.

For men and women, this Adidas wind-breaker is a trans-seasonal must-have

Designed to be worn everywhere from the track to the street, the new Adidas W.N.D jacket ($139) is lightweight and sleek, with a warm lining to keep you comfortable when the weather turns. It has an adaptable hood with a built-in visor for all conditions, and a two-way zipper. Available in-store now at Adidas Performance Britomart.

This day-to-night heel will take you everywhere this year

It’s all about power-dressing with a wry smile at Kathryn Wilson this season. The 8cm-tall Ruby Heel ($299), a snow-leopard print slingback with a pop of gold-studded fuschia leather, is the kind of shoe you slide on when you want to mix work with pleasure – business at the front, party at the back.

If you like it then this week would be a good time to put a ring on it

Just in case you’re in the market for an engagement ring in the next few days, the Tiffany True ring is a modern icon of commitment, whether in platinum, or yellow-gold with a yellow diamond. Presented in the classic blue Tiffany & Co box (created by New Zealand designer Lance McGregor), it’s full of subtle, beautiful detail, like the T-shape hidden within the setting.
