Britomart restaurants are officially the best in town – again.
We always await the release of Metro’s annual Top 50 Restaurants list with excitement – and this year we’re delighted to see that four Britomart restaurants have again made the celebrated list of Auckland’s best eateries.
Amano, Cafe Hanoi, Ebisu and Ortolana have all received the golden nod from Metro’s food critics, which each eatery appearing for at least the second time, and Ebisu and Ortolana being on the list continuously for the last five years.
Last year’s winner of Best New Fitout, Amano, has had its fresh, seasonal dishes described by Metro as “elevated to the heights of excellence by a perfectionist’s hand” (that would be the hand of head chef Jo Pearson). Cafe Hanoi was last year described as “never […] better”, while Ortolana made their writer wax poetic about the “lovely little restaurant” as “a box of golden light that spills its warmth and welcome out onto Britomart’s twinkling streets”.
Ebisu is a firm favorite of the Metro team, who appreciated last year’s interior refurbishment, describing the floor service as “like clockwork”, and approving the busy vibe of the restaurant as “some of the most fun you can have eating out.”
The full reviews of the Top 50 restaurants will be out in the next issue of Metro. Slide in to sample the seasonal specials at any of our four hotspots before the crowds arrive.
