We love good, cheap eats. You love good, cheap eats. Let’s get together and have some fun.

Nothing gives a city life like having fun stuff happening on the streets. With the weather warming up, we’re keen to get folks outside to enjoy what Auckland has to offer. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Auckland Food Truck Collective to get some of the city’s best food trucks and some of Britomart’s best-known eateries to set up shop all day long in Takutai Square in the heart of Britomart’s nine blocks.

For one day only, the street food dreams of the people of the city centre will come to delicious, fragrant life downtown. Come down during your lunch break for a quick bite or grab your friends to relax after work with a drink and a bite in the square.

Here’s what we’ve got on offer on Thursday 4 October, from 11am – 9pm.

Wise Boys Burgers – this is the burger shack of every vegan’s dreams. Their mission is to show vegan food doesn’t have to be synonymous with fitspo and clean eating hashtags but can be delicious and a little bit indulgent.

Bacon Brother’s Food Truck One of our favourite stops every Saturday at the Britomart market, the Bacon Bros serve up the ultimate bacon sammies.

Judge Bao – “Sauce Boss” Jamie and “Bun Hun” Debbie create contemporary steamed Chinese dishes with a pinch of playfulness, using free range meats and eggs, GMO-free soybeans, and seasonal local produce.

The Rolling Pin – everyone loves dumplings, and Gordon and Yina love them more than most. This is Chinese cuisine catered to Kiwi tastes without losing the essence and authenticity of their Cantonese roots.

Temaki Truck – Jenny and Rodrigo got hooked on temaki – nori-wrapped sushi hand-rolls stuffed with fresh ingredients – in Brazil, and decided to bring the concept to Aotearoa.

Mexico – it’s not a street party without a taste of Mexico, and in particular, their moreish spicy fried chicken. They’ll also be serving up fresh beverages, beer and wine all day at the open-air Mexico bar.

Peach’s Hot Chicken – Nashville Hot Chicken is a Tennessee staple. Served inside brioche buns or on top of fluffy waffles, it comes with a spice level of mild, medium or Holy Cluck!

Orleans – lunchtime chicken and waffles from our favourite Nawlins-style eatery are easier than ever when they’re served in the square so close to their home in Roukai Lane.

Double Dutch Fries – taking the Kiwi favourite hot chips to the next level, Tim offers hand-cut fries in a cone with a selection of sauces.

The Brulee Bike – You can make a solid argument that creme brulee is the best dessert on earth. Chef Olly takes international inspiration to create lusciously creamy brulees – decide for yourself which one’s the winner.

Miann Britomart – a one-stop shop for sweet treats, including some amazing-looking gelato-macaron sandwiches that they’re making specially for this event.

Captain Crêpes – authentically French, the Captain’s crepes and galettes are simple and delicate, the perfect balance of savoury and sweet.

Grownup Donuts – light, fluffy, and filled with dreamy creams, these fresh-made doughnuts are a world away from sickly-sweet commercial glazed doughnuts.

We’ll have an outdoor seating area with plenty of tables and bean bags, a DJ spinning sweet lunchtime sounds, and live music in the evening. See you there!
