What the Owl are you looking at?

Auckland’s biggest public art trail is here.

The Big Hoot public art trail features some of the country’s most well-known and emerging artists and is set to raise awareness and funds for the Child Cancer Foundation. This year, Auckland is also playing host to 47 giant Owls and 60 smaller ‘Owlets’ designed by local school kids, as part of The Big Hoot 2018.

Kiwi talents including the likes of Dick Frizzell, Jeff Thompson and Flox (Hayley King) have transformed Owl sculptures into bespoke art, and as with any Owl, “each artwork is filled with hidden messages, knowledge and stories”.

Auckland’s biggest mass-participation, public art trial will be around for ten weeks before the pieces are auctioned off. There might even be one here in Britomart… but you’ll have to spread your wings and get down here to see it in real life!
