There's no excuse not to get out and enjoy the sun over the next few months, with a region-wide line-up of events based around arts, culture, sports, wine, food, music, sustainability and more.
As the calendar ticks over into December, the first events in the summer-long Summernova Festival kick off. Toi Tū Toi Ora, the landmark exhibition of contemporary Māori art that's being hosted at Auckland Art Gallery Toi O Tāmaki, with a satellite exhibition at Britomart, is the first event in a very long line-up of festivals from now until the end of March, culminating in the 36th America's Cup Match.
Whether you want to kick back or give back, Summernova has plenty of reasons to get out of the house, from music festivals, food and wine extravaganzas and art showcases to explorations of some of the region's historic and cultural touchpoints, beach clean-ups and sustainability workshops.
As well as the Toi Tū Toi Ora satellite exhibition at Britomart (5 December to 31 March), we're looking forward to the Island Time festival in February, which invites locals and visitors to Tāmaki to discover the island sanctuary of Motutapu (which we recently supported through our Green Christmas native tree fundraising event), as well as the expected huge buzz throughout downtown during the Prada Cup Challenger Series and America's Cup Match.
