Planning a party? Big, small, elegant or rowdy, there's a place for your end-of-year celebration at Britomart.

From intimate cocktail parties on the roof terrace of a sophisticated suite above the city, to full-scale festive functions in the beautifully layered spaces at The Libraries, The Hotel Britomart has a place for your end-of-year celebration. Gather with close friends or your work team in one of The Landing Suites for cocktails or bubbles with views of the harbour and city, or gather in the brick-lined Courtyard outside kingi for drinks under the fish-scale chandelier. The Libraries offers four spaces - The Wine Library, The Chef's Library, The Lounge and the Papuke Room, all of which can be hired individually or in combination to meet your needs.

Generator's two locations at Britomart - Stanbeth House and the north tower of the East Building - offer a range of spaces for fully catered end-of-year parties and functions, from formal to relaxed. The Assembly can host up to 200 guests across an indoor space and expansive roof terrace with sweeping views of the harbour, while over at Stanbeth House, the character-filled space of The Lounge holds up to 100 for a cosy cocktail function - there's a range of options in between the two spaces.

The Parlour is Cafe Hanoi and Ghost Street's shared private dining room, ideal for functions of up to 44 people seated or 50 people standing - though smaller groups are welcome. Darkened and intimate, it offers menus from both restaurants - fresh modern Vietnamese and spicy rustic Sichuan-style - and the team can cater for all dietary preferences. Their cocktail list is also to die for, and there's a selection of wines and ales ranging from reasonably priced to special-occasion.

The private dining room at Mr Morris (named - what else? - Mrs Morris) has an open kitchen where you can watch each delicious course being prepared by your own private chef. Seating up to 20 guests or serving drinks and canapés for up to 30, Mrs Morris offers 3-course or 4-course set menus, or a bespoke tasting menu. A darker take on the light-filled, airy space of the main Mr Morris dining room, this is one of Auckland's most sophisticated private spaces.

At Ortolana, your Christmas function can range from elegant and breezy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres among the overflowing planters of flowers to a seasonal Mediterranean dinner under the twinkling lights of The Pavilions. The Savor Group team can tailor your experience to suit, with canapés or set menus, and flowers, styling or a full AV set-up on request.

The buzzy space of Bar Non Solo, sitting above the fairy lights over Tyler Street, brings a little taste of Italian conviviality to your gathering. Big enough to host up to 150, it offers a menu of antipasti and pizza, along with cocktails on tap or a spritzer bar in the Campari Terrace. Live DJs on Friday and Saturday nights can keep the party going into the wee hours.

Mexico serves up private events that are hard to forget (and occasionally hard to remember), from margarita-making masterclasses to custom fiestas. Their upstairs space above Mexico Britomart puts your party in the heart of the downtown action, with set menus to serve groups of 10 people or more. With jugs of margaritas, sangria and local and imported cervezas, if the ingredients you like in a festive occasion are high spirits, hilarity and a riot of colour, Mexico is the place for you.

Ebisu's soaring ceilings and exposed brick walls create an elegant backdrop for end-of-year functions, with incredible contemporary Japanese fare that mixes classic Japanese and European techniques. The large space can be partitioned off into the Nikko Courtyard on the Quay St side of the building, and the main restaurant space depending on your group size, and the kitchen can cater hot or cold canapés, full set menus, champagne and Japanese cocktails and an oyster bar.

For a laid-back celebration, The Chamberlain has a strong focus on craft beer - offering 15 local and international brews on tap - as well as a great wine list and stylish cocktails, which can all be served in different spaces within the bar. Upstairs, the tropical Talulah rooftop bar hasan extensive (and award-winning) cocktail menu that isn’t shy on experimentation. Executive chef Gareth Stewart's menu is heavy on smoky woodfire flavours and gastropub favourites like sliders, risotto balls, fried chicken wings, teriyaki beef skewers and avocado tostadas.
