Ryder is one of New Zealand’s leading hair salons, guided by a philosophy of ‘recognising the traditional craft of hairdressing without being restricted by it’.
Ryder Salon offers haircuts, colour and styling for men and women in a way that is contemporary but personalised to suit the individual. It’s a bespoke experience that uses the best techniques and products in the industry.
“At Ryder we take a relaxed, natural, and intuitive approach to hair. While we enjoy working with the latest fashion mood, we believe hair should be individual, uncontrived and easy to style. It’s about getting your hair texture to work for you, whatever the shape or form,” says founder Greg Murrell.
Established in 1999, Ryder Salon has become renowned for its work in fashion shows and editorial photography. Over the years, Ryder has cemented long-standing relationships with leading fashion brands that include Stolen Girlfriends Club, Zambesi, Crane Brothers and Ingrid Starnes.
A unique haircut experience
The salon is located in the heritage building Charter House and is enhanced by the work of one of New Zealand’s leading contemporary artists, Michael Parekowhai.
Greg Murrell was the creative force behind the development of the dramatic space and says, “Height and scale were maximised to create a monumental yet simple feel – a redefinition of what a modern hair salon should look and feel like.”
Ryder Salon stocks a range of top haircare products, including Davines, KMS California, Kevin Murphy and Sans Ceuticals. Former Ryder stylist Tiffany Jeans’ Curio Noir candles are also available from the salon.
