Auckland’s La Cigale market – voted the city’s best for many years – can soon be found in Britomart, with its fresh produce, artisanally made ingredients and an unmistakably French feel.
After falling in love with Paris twenty years ago, La Cigale owners Elizabeth and Mike Lind made it their mission to inject a sense of Parisian flair into the traditional kiwi market model. The result is a beautiful collision; locally grown, fresh fruit and vegetable stalls sit alongside international fare such as cured meats, specialty chocolates and nut butters. There are more than twenty stalls to peruse. Some produce changes with the seasons, other goodies can be found year-round and there really is something for everyone – from accomplished chefs to curious wanderers.
With its mouthwatering sights and intoxicating smells, the La Cigale market is an ever-changing delight. Perfect for a weekend stroll with fresh juice or steaming coffee in hand.
The market operates year round and is located on Takutai Square.
Sunday 9am-1pm (Easter Sunday 16 April, Closed)
Parking for the market is $5 between 8am-1pm in Britomart’s carpark building, if validated at the market.
